The price of the newest Kindle Paperwhite may drop to $99.99. The basic Kindle will most probably cost less than $50, while the Oasis – $175.

Amazon’s popular mid-summer shopping event will most probably run either on July 11-12 or July 18-19. The Prime Day 2022 front page is still empty, but the first deals and deal announcements should appear here at the end of June.

Are you waiting for Prime Day to save on the Kindle? This year, the newest Kindle Paperwhite 6.8 will draw the most attention, while two other models – the basic Kindle and the 3rd-generation Oasis – will be offered at significantly low prices.

It’s worth noting that currently no Kindle devices are available. All versions of all three models are out of stock. It usually happens before major shopping events. Amazon is just restocking the devices to start selling them again the moment the deals are revealed.

Prime Day 2022 Kindle prices – highlights

  • Kindle Paperwhite (2021 release) – expected deal price for the entry-level configuration: $99.99.
  • The basic Kindle (2019 release) – expected deal price for the entry-level variant: $49.99.
  • Kindle Oasis (2019 release) – expected deal price for the entry-level configuration: $174.99.

Should I buy the Kindle during Prime Day?

Yes, Kindle e-readers are Amazon’s own devices that are offered during Prime Day at similar prices as during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

We maintain a detailed analysis of Prime Day and Black Friday Kindle prices, tracking the deals since 2016. The rule is that the older the model, the bigger the chance to see a record low price.

In fact, the first ever price cut on the top-shelf Kindle Oasis, was offered by Amazon during the Prime Day event in 2020. The deal was repeated during Black Friday later that year.

What you have to remember, though, is that the Prime Day price drops have to be seen through the cost of Prime subscription. The annual Prime subscription is $139. Joining the program just to buy the Kindle Paperwhite for the price lower by $40 doesn’t make too much sense.

Obviously, the more you use your Prime benefits, the more you save in the end. Also, with an annual subscription, you can plan ahead your shopping. There is no need to wait for Black Friday, if you can buy Christmas gifts already during Prime Day.

Upcoming Prime Day 2022 Kindle deals

Kindle Paperwhite for $99.99

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 6.8 2021

The 5th-generation Kindle Paperwhite 6.8 was released in October 2021. Its regular price is $139.99.

It’s an essential upgrade of Kindle Paperwhite 4, offering a larger 6.8-inch glare-free 300 ppi E-ink display, warm light, and USB-C. It comes with 8 GB of storage, and USB-C port for faster charging and data transfer. The battery life is extended to even 10 weeks.

During Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2021 – a month after the launch of the Paperwhite – Amazon surprised everyone by offering the device $25 below the regular price – for $104.99. You were able to save 18%, or the equivalent of the solid third-party case cover.

We predict Kindle Paperwhite to sell at $99.99-104.99 during Prime Day 2022, but the lower price is more probable.

⇢ Kindle Paperwhite

The basic Kindle for $49.99

Amazon Kindle 2019

The 10th-generation Kindle was introduced in April 2019, so it’s a very old model. As time flies, the more and more important reason to buy this particular model is an affordable price. Buying it at a regular price doesn’t make sense any longer.

There is still a chance that the next-generation entry-level Kindle model is released before Prime Day 2022, but if not, we expect the price of the current generation to drop to $49.99. It’s the deal price that we saw during Black Friday 2021.

Can the price of the basic Kindle jump below $40? We don’t think so. It would depreciate the value of the device completely. Instead, you may expect extra benefits, such as a free Kindle Unlimited short-term plan.

Click on the button below to jump to the Kindle product page on Amazon. Bookmark that page in your browser (Ctrl+D on a PC, Command+D on a Mac) to quickly access it when you come back for Prime Day 2022 deals.

⇢ Basic Kindle

Kindle Oasis for $174.99

Amazon Kindle Oasis 3 2019

The most advanced Kindle e-reader to date, the 3rd-generation Oasis, was launched in summer 2019, so it’s already three years old.

With the introduction of the newest Kindle Paperwhite, the Oasis suddenly looks not interesting enough. The Paperwhite has a 6.8-inch warm light display. The Oasis has a 7-inch warm light display. The Paperwhite costs $139.99, the Oasis almost twice as much.

During Black Friday 2021, the Oasis was offered for $174.99, and we expect to see the same price during Prime Day 2022.

Click on the button below to jump to the Kindle Oasis product page on Amazon. Bookmark that page in your browser (Ctrl+D on a PC, Command+D on a Mac) to quickly access it when you come back for Prime Day 2022 deals.

Explore 25 best Amazon Prime Reading books of all time https://ebookfriendly.com/best-books-amazon-prime-reading-based-on-reviews/ https://ebookfriendly.com/best-books-amazon-prime-reading-based-on-reviews/#comments Fri, 10 Sep 2021 12:44:00 +0000 https://ebookfriendly.com/?p=129963 This handy list lets you quickly go through the best books that you can download for free with your Amazon Prime membership.

Prime Reading is one of the services included in Amazon Prime membership. It’s hard to understand why it’s still so underestimated. The service gives unlimited access to a list of customer-favorited Kindle books, as well as comics, magazines, and audiobooks from Audible.

The Prime Reading catalog includes between 1,000 and 3,000 items. The list is rotating, which means that – just like on Netflix – some titles are coming and some are leaving.

Some users wonder what is better – Prime Reading or Kindle Unlimited. If you are an avid reader, you should have no doubts: the latter service is much better because it includes over a million books.

However, Amazon Prime Reading works surprisingly well for people who read occasionally, want to have access to versatile content, and share their account with family members.

If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber, you should definitely check out what’s currently available in Amazon Prime Reading. The list is being refreshed every month. Although the number of eligible titles is growing, many interesting books are gone forever.

However, I’ve noticed an interesting pattern: some books – the ones that are most popular – stay longer on the list. Harry Potter series, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, or Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People are on Prime Reading since the service was launched in October 2016.

The list you will see below includes most loved Amazon Prime eligible books, based on the time they have stayed in the catalog as well as customer reviews.

For more recommendations, check out the ranking of 100 best books in Amazon Prime Reading. This list is based on the current number of downloads, and is being updated every hour.

How to download Prime Reading books

There are two ways to do it:

  • Via Amazon website – when you choose the book from the list below or the catalog of Prime Reading eligible books, you will be directed to the book’s product page. Click on the button saying “Read for Free,” and make sure to select the right device from a drop-down list under the button.
  • Via Kindle app or e-reader – in a Kindle app (no matter whether it’s for iPhone/iPad or Android), tap the Discover icon on the bottom bar and look for “Prime Reading” link. On your Kindle, go to “Home” view, tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner, select Kindle Store and look for “Prime Reading” link.

How to sign up for Amazon Prime Reading

As I have mentioned above, Prime Reading is a part of Amazon Prime multi-benefit subscription. Most probably, you will join or rejoin Prime not only because of access to a few thousand digital books and audiobooks – for $12.99 per month you get much more than that.

Free delivery on 100 million products, original TV shows on Prime Video, plus several shopping benefits and exclusive deals – these are the most common reasons to buy the subscription.

To get the membership, visit Amazon Prime sign up page, select the plan (you can go for a monthly payment but you can also pick up one of the tailored subscriptions), confirm you credentials, and you are ready to enjoy free digital books, comics, and magazines!

Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime Reading – which service is better for me? https://ebookfriendly.com/kindle-unlimited-vs-amazon-prime-reading-comparison/ https://ebookfriendly.com/kindle-unlimited-vs-amazon-prime-reading-comparison/#comments Fri, 20 Nov 2020 19:09:00 +0000 https://ebookfriendly.com/?p=132019 In this updated comparison, you will learn about major features, eligible books, compatible devices, offered deals, and cancellation terms.

Amazon offers so many digital services that it’s easy to get lost and confuse their names, features, and prices. Kindle Unlimited, Amazon Prime, FreeTime Unlimited, Prime Video, Audible Channels, Amazon Music Unlimited, Kindle Owners’ Lending Library…

Some of these services are standalone subscriptions; some are a part of complex membership programs. Are you sure you are choosing a service that meets your needs the most?

In this overview, we will compare two popular digital services offered by Amazon: Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading. You will learn about major features, compatible devices, eligible books, cancellation terms, and offered deals.

Let’s start with brief definitions of each service:

Kindle Unlimited is a standalone subscription-based service that gives unlimited access to over 1 million Kindle ebooks, Audible audiobook companions, as well as digital newspapers, magazines, and comic books. The monthly fee is $9.99, and you can try it for 30 days free of charge.

⇢ More about Kindle Unlimited

Amazon Prime Reading is a part of Amazon Prime (multi-benefit subscription that costs $12.99 per month). It gives unlimited access to a rotating selection of about 1,000 hot Kindle ebooks, popular magazines, children’s books, comics, and short reads.

⇢ More about Prime Reading

At the end of the post, you will see most important features compared in a handy table, but before that, let’s compare the features and facts in detail.

Kindle Unlimited vs. Amazon Prime Reading

Subscription comparison

Both Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading are subscription-based services, but there is one substantial difference between them:

  • Kindle Unlimited is a separate subscription service,
  • Prime Reading is a part of a larger subscription – Amazon Prime.

Therefore, comparing these two services one-to-one doesn’t make sense.

Kindle Unlimited costs $9.99 per month, and you get only this very service.

Prime Reading is not the only benefit of Amazon Prime membership. For $12.99 per month, Amazon Prime subscription offers several benefits, including:

  • Free two-day shipping to addresses in the contiguous US
  • Free same-day delivery in certain areas
  • Prime Instant Video – unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows
  • Prime Music – unlimited access to millions of songs and playlists
  • Audible channels – free access to original audio content

As you see, Prime Reading is just one of the benefits you can access – and probably not the most important one. Free two-day shipping and video streaming are the most common reasons to join Prime.

Available titles

Kindle Unlimited gives freedom to explore over 1 million Kindle books, magazines, and comics
Kindle Unlimited digital subscription gives gives access to over 1 million Kindle books, magazines, comics, and audiobook companions.

Amazon no longer provides the exact number of items in specific categories or on search results pages. However, comparing the catalogs of eligible books is quite easy.

Kindle Unlimited catalog includes over 1 million titles – it’s what Amazon claims on the sign-up page. The last time we could track the exact number (the end of 2017), more than 1.4 million items were Kindle Unlimited eligible. It’s about one-fourth of the entire Kindle Store.

Amazon Prime Reading catalog includes about 1 thousand titles. The number of eligible books seems pretty limited, but you have to keep in mind two things:

  • The list of titles is rotating
  • You can use other services included in Prime membership

Every month, new titles are added to Prime Reading – and some titles are gone. The mechanism is the same as, for instance, in Netflix. It’s worth checking out the list of eligible titles once a month to spot the newcomers.

The second thing is more important. When you are a Prime member, you can access digital books via a few services:

  • Prime Reading
  • Kindle Owners’ Lending Library (the service seems to have been discontinued, though)
  • Kindle First,
  • Audible Channels

Content details

Both services give access to similar digital content, when it comes to format and nature:

  • Kindle ebooks – some of them are in Kindle in Motion format enabling you to play embedded video, audio, or interactive elements
  • Audiobook companions – you can add an audio track, powered by Audible, to eligible books to be able to seamlessly switch between reading and listening
  • Digital magazines
  • Comic books

Both services include the same content. In other words, you won’t find in Prime Reading what’s not included in Kindle Unlimited.

The content in both services has major characteristics:

  • The majority of titles is exclusive to Kindle Store – these books are self-published via Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing platform or released by Amazon’s own imprints, such as Montlake, AmazonCrossing, Thomas & Mercer, or 47North
  • There are almost no books from big publishers – if you are looking for bestsellers from Random House or Simon & Schuster, you’ll be disappointed to discover most of them are not included, although you can buy them in the Kindle Store
  • A regular price of a majority of books is less than $5 – it’s good to keep it in mind when evaluating whether it pays to join each service. As the books are released in the Amazon ecosystem, their prices are much lower than bestsellers from Big 5 publishers. Regular prices of these books are usually $3.99, $4.99, or $5.99.

Eligible devices and apps

Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading books availability
Both Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading books can be accessed from Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, as well as Kindle apps for iPad/iPhone and Android.

Both services can be accessed from:

  • Kindle e-reader
  • Fire tablet
  • Kindle reading app for iOS and iPadOS (iPhone and iPad)
  • Kindle reading app for Android

If you use other devices, you can browse the catalog of each service in your web browser and add your books to the device this way.

Note: You won’t be able to read magazines from the Prime Reading catalog on Kindle Cloud Reader, Kindle for Mac, and Kindle for PC.

Borrowing and returning books

If you have the Kindle e-reader or Fire tablet, you can access catalogs of both services directly and borrow eligible books seamlessly.

You can do the same using your Kindle app for iOS or Android.

In both services, there are no due dates, so you can keep the downloaded titles as long as you want.

What you need to know is that you can keep up to 10 books from each service on your connected devices or apps. If you want to borrow the 11th title, you’ll need to return one of the previously downloaded books.

Cancellation terms

In both services, when you cancel the subscription, you’ll keep the borrowed books until the next billing date.

The day after the end of the subscription, the borrowed books will be removed from your device or app the moment you connect it to the web.

You will, however, keep all the notes and highlights you’ve made. You will be able to access them online at kindle.amazon.com.

Price comparison

As we’ve already mentioned, comparing Kindle Unlimited with Amazon Prime is of no use, as the latter service gives many other benefits – and most of them are not related to reading.

However, let’s quickly go through fee structures to let you have an idea of how much each service will cost you.

Kindle Unlimited

The most common subscription plan of Kindle Unlimited is a monthly fee, which is $9.99. Your subscription will be automatically renewed each month until you cancel it.

If you subscribe to the service for the first time, you are eligible for a 30-day free trial, after which you’ll start paying the monthly fee.

If you cancel your subscription during the free trial, your credit card won’t be charged.

Amazon Prime

You can select from two subscription plans:

  • Monthly plan – $12.99
  • Annual plan – $119

If you pick up the annual subscription, the monthly cost will be lower: $9.92 compared to $12.99 from a monthly plan.

However, if you would like to cancel your annual plan after, let’s say, two months, you won’t get an automatic refund for the remaining period. Please keep it in mind when selecting the subscription plan.

Available deals

Amazon offers several deals throughout the year for Kindle Unlimited, and almost none for Amazon Prime.

Therefore, you can only save money on Kindle Unlimited subscription. Usually, the deals are offered for Prime Day and Black Friday & Cyber Monday. Plus, there are a few less attractive deals in the meantime.

The usual deal for Kindle Unlimited is based on longer-time subscription plans. For instance, you can save:

  • 25% on 6-month subscription – $44.95 $59.94
  • 33% on 12-month subscription – $80.32 $119.88
  • 40% on 24-month subscription – $143.85 $239.76

Some Kindle Unlimited deals will let you save even 96%, for instance, when the 3-month subscription is offered for only $0.99.

Some time ago, Amazon introduced also Kindle Unlimited extend plans that are addressed to active members. You can buy one of the long-term plans and save roughly between 20 and 40%.

When is the best time to join Kindle Unlimited? If you are not eligible for the free trial anymore, you should hunt for deals. The best deals are offered for Black Friday & Cyber Monday.

When is the best time to join Amazon Prime? It’s a few weeks before Prime Day, and a few weeks before Black Friday. You will be able to test most features during the upcoming event, while still enjoying the 30-day free trial.

Which service is better for me?

The difference between the two services is clear:

  • Kindle Unlimited is for avid readers
  • Amazon Prime Reading is for occasional readers

If you want to read the hottest new bestsellers released by big publishers frequently, none of these services will meet your needs.

Before joining Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime, make sure to explore catalogs of eligible books to find out how many books you’d want to read. You can do it without being subscribed. Simply, use the web browser on your computer:

Amazon Prime Reading – most important things to know https://ebookfriendly.com/amazon-prime-reading-things-to-know/ Wed, 11 Nov 2020 18:41:00 +0000 http://ebookfriendly.com/?p=116459 Things to know about Amazon Prime Reading in a form of single-minded questions and answers.

Prime Reading, a part of the Amazon Prime multi-benefit subscription, is addressed to subscribers who enjoy reading.

Introduced in October 2016, Amazon Prime Reading gives unlimited access to a selection of hot Kindle ebooks, popular magazines, children’s books, comics, and short reads.

You can choose from over 1,000 Prime Reading titles. They are carefully selected by Amazon editors. The list is being frequently updated with current issues of magazines and hot new Kindle ebooks.

At launch, Prime Reading included such titles as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, The Hobbit, The Complete Peanuts Vol. 1, or issues of People Magazine and Sports Illustrated.

Below, you’ll find most common questions about Prime Reading – answered in a simplest possible way. You can also see Prime Reading compared to Kindle Unlimited, as well as Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.

As soon as more facts are revealed, we’ll be adding them to the list. Let’s stay in touch!

If you’ve got a question that has not been answered yet, please leave it in the comments below. Our readers and we will try our best to answer them.

Things to know about Amazon Prime Reading

What is Amazon Prime Reading?

Prime Reading is a part of Amazon’s multi-benefit subscription program called Prime.

Prime Reading gives unlimited access to a rotating list of top Kindle books, popular magazines, and comics.

How much is Prime Reading?

Prime Reading is a part of Amazon Prime, so you’ll have to pay for the entire subscription that costs $99/year or $10.99/month.

The price you pay for Amazon Prime includes, besides Prime Reading, over 20 other features, such as free two-day shipping, unlimited streaming of movies and music, free access to Audible Channels, and much more.

You can read more about Amazon Prime here. The list of key benefits is presented below.

Amazon Prime – main features

  • Free Two-Day Shipping – on eligible items to addresses in the contiguous U.S.,
  • Free Same-Day Delivery – in certain areas,
  • Kindle Owners’ Lending Library – you can borrow one book each calendar month; the catalog includes over 1,000,000 ebooks,
  • Kindle First – early access to download a new book for free every month from the Kindle First picks,
  • Audible Channels – free access to original audio editions of standout articles and news from top sources,
  • Prime Reading – free access to over 1,000 top Kindle books, magazines, and comics,
  • Prime Instant Video – unlimited streaming of movies and TV episodes,

  • Prime Early Access – 30-minute early access to select Lightning Deals and new events on MyHabit.com,
  • Membership sharing – Prime members may share the account with up to four eligible household members living at the same address.

What do I get in Prime Reading?

Prime Reading lets you read books, magazines, and comics from a list of over 1,000 titles.

The number of Prime Reading eligible items is not impressive, especially compared to the 3.5 million books in the Kindle Store. However, the list, curated by Amazon editors, is being refreshed every month.

In Amazon Prime Reading you’ll find current Kindle bestsellers (fiction, non-fiction, Kindle Singles) and new issues of popular magazines, including National Geographic, People, or Sports Illustrated.

What books and magazines are on the Prime Reading list?

If you want to check out the list of Prime Reading titles before signing up to Prime, you can explore it on Amazon: Prime Reading Eligible.

The list includes around 1,000 Kindle books in several categories. Some 300 come with Audible narration. That means you will be able to switch seamlessly between reading and listening back and forth.

A particular worthy subset contains Kindle Singles – premium short-form reading exclusive to Kindle Store, from short stories, to essays, to memoirs.

How can I subscribe to Prime Reading?

Prime Reading is a part of Amazon Prime, so to access it, you’ll need to buy the whole membership.

Here is a Amazon Prime sign up page.

Can I try Prime Reading free?

Yes. After signing up to Amazon Prime, you will enjoy 30-day free trial period

If you unsubscribe during that period, your account won’t be charged. It’s enough time to explore the list of Prime Reading titles and find out whether this is the offer that meets your needs.

How can I borrow a book from Prime Reading?

The easiest way is to do that on a computer. In a web browser go to Kindle Store or directly to Kindle Store’s list of Prime Reading eligible titles.

Find the book you want to get and click to view the product detail page.

Select the option to borrow the book for free with Prime Reading. You can also choose the device or app you want the book to be delivered first.

How do I cancel Prime Reading?

Prime Reading is a part of Amazon Prime. Even if you don’t use Prime Reading, you can still benefit from other features offered to Prime members.

In other words, ending Prime Reading is ending the entire Amazon Prime subscription.

To cancel Amazon Prime, go to your account on Amazon website and find “Manage Prime Membership.”

If you cancel a paid Amazon Prime membership, click “End membership.”

If you cancel Amazon Prime during a free trial, click “Do not continue.”

What device do I need to read Prime Reading titles?

Unlike Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, you don’t need a Kindle e-reader or Fire tablet.

You can read Prime Reading titles on a Kindle application for iOS (iPad, iPhone) or Android. You can get free Kindle apps here.

What is the difference between Prime Reading and KOLL?

Both Prime Reading and Kindle Owner’s Lending Library (KOLL) are included in Amazon Prime multi-benefit subscription. You can use them both within your membership.

There are two areas where these two services are different:

  • eligible devices,
  • the number of books.

To read books from KOLL, you need to have a Kindle or Fire. To read Prime Reading titles, you don’t need an Amazon device – you can use a Kindle app for iOS (iPhone, iPad) or Android.

KOLL lets you access a catalog of 1.4 million titles but you can only borrow one book per month. Prime Reading lets you access 1,000 titles, and there is no such limit.

Amazon doesn’t provide information how many Prime Reading titles can be downloaded at the same time to a single device, but we can assume this number is no higher than for Kindle Unlimited, that is 10.

What’s the difference between Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited?

Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited are two different services from Amazon.

Prime Reading is a part of Amazon Prime multi-benefit subscription and offers unlimited access to 1,000 Kindle books, magazines, and comic books.

Kindle Unlimited is a standalone subscription that offers unlimited access to over 1.4 million Kindle books and magazines. It’s about one-fourth of the Kindle Store offer.

Almost all books included in Prime Reading are also included in Kindle Unlimited. The catalogs of Kindle Unlimited and KOLL are very similar.

If you are looking for access to a wider selection of titles than this from Prime Reading, you can first of all make use of Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, which is a part of the same Amazon Prime membeship.

However, if you read a lot of books, and one book per month is not enough for you, you can consider getting Kindle Unlimited on top of Amazon Prime.

Amazon Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited are compared in a table below.

Is Prime Reading available for international customers?

No. Currently, Amazon Prime Reading can be only used by customers with a U.S. country of residence.

What are other benefits of Amazon Prime for book lovers?

Prime Reading is not the only feature of Prime membership that is addressed to people who like to read.

All benefits for book lovers are:

  • Kindle Owners’ Lending Library – borrow one Kindle book per month from over 1 million Prime eligible titles,
  • Kindle First – pick for free one of four Kindle ebooks per month available in advance of their official release dates,
  • Audible Channels – enjoy an unlimited access to a curated selection of programs and news from top sources,
  • Prime Reading – get a free access to over 1,000 Kindle books, magazines, short-form reading, and comic books.

Prime Day deal for non-members: save huge on 160 Kindle bestsellers! https://ebookfriendly.com/best-prime-day-deal-kindle-ebooks/ Wed, 14 Oct 2020 13:00:31 +0000 https://ebookfriendly.com/?p=149244 Prime Day 2020 deal - save huge Kindle bestsellers

While most today’s deals are Prime exclusive, you can grab a Kindle bestseller for even 80% less – even if you are not a Prime subscriber.

Prime Day 2020 is in full swing, but Amazon is still revealing new deals, although only 17 hours are left.

Earlier, we mentioned a few interesting Prime Day deals for regular customers, and now it’s time for Kindle ebooks.

Today only, top Kindle reads are up to 80% off. The books usually cost between $1.99 and $2.99, and only a few $3.99. Having in mind that as many as 160 books are featured, this deal is comparable to what you can save on Cyber Monday.

Unlike deals on Kindle e-readers, which are available only to Prime members, today’s Kindle Daily Deal can be grabbed by any Amazon customer.

53 of today’s ebook deals are included in Kindle Unlimited. If you find some of these titles attractive, you will face a decision: to buy them separately today, one by one, at a reduced price or join Kindle Unlimited and get unlimited access during your subscription.

It’s worth mentioning that not one but four Kindle Unlimited deals are available during Prime Day 2020. The best thing is that some of them are available for customers who are not Prime subscribers. As a result, you can grab Kindle Unlimited subscription without signing up to Prime.

The list of Prime Day Kindle bestseller deals includes, among others: Gregg Olsen’s If You Tell, Limitless by Jim Kwik, J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings (in one volume), and the 3rd book in the Witcher Saga by Andrzej Sapkowski – Blood of Elves.

Please keep in mind that as a Prime member, you have full and unlimited access to Prime Reading catalog which includes up to 3,000 Kindle books, comic books, and audiobook companions.

By the way, did you know that on Amazon there are hundreds of deals regular customers can get without the need to sign up to Prime? They are hidden, but with this simple trick, you will find them pretty easily.

Most importantly, some of these deals can be grabbed by regular Amazon customers without the need to sign up for Prime.

There is a better Kindle Unlimited deal than what’s offered for Prime Day https://ebookfriendly.com/prime-day-2020-kindle-unlimited-deal/ Tue, 29 Sep 2020 15:23:24 +0000 https://ebookfriendly.com/?p=148970 Prime Day 2020 Kindle Unlimited - better option

Prime Day 2020 Kindle Unlimited deal lets you save $30 on the six-month plan. But there is other, much better offer to consider – the 60-day free trial.

Amazon has officially launched Prime Day 2020. The two-day shopping event will take place on October 13 and 14, but some deals are available to grab right now.

Just like in former events, one of the early Prime Day deals is for Kindle Unlimited. This year, if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber or sign up to the service any time, you are eligible for a 50% discount on the six-month plan.

The regular price of this membership plan is $59.94, but you will pay $29.97, if you decide to go for it before or during Prime Day 2020.

Amazon clearly stated in a press release that the deal is addressed to customers who are new to Kindle Unlimited, so if you are both an active Prime and Kindle Unlimited subscriber, you will not be able to get the deal.

Where can I get Prime Day 2020 Kindle Unlimited deal? Amazon has not included this offer on the front page of this year’s event, but you should be able to grab it when you visit the regular Kindle Unlimited sign up page.

To see available & personalized subscription options and deals, you have to be signed in to Amazon with the same credentials you use for Prime membership.

Is Prime Day 2020 Kindle Unlimited deal worth it?

To be frank, we have seen much more attractive Kindle Unlimited deals offered exclusively for Prime subscribers before Prime Day or Black Friday. For instance, last year you could get the 3-month plan for just $0.99.

The 2020 deal lets you save $30 but you have to pay $30 right away.

To conclude, no matter how attractive the 50% price cut means, you have to keep in mind:

  • If you haven’t used Kindle Unlimited before, you are eligible for a 30-day free trial. It means that you effectively save $20 not $30, as the monthly subscription fee is $9.99.
  • When you sign up for the subscription, your credit card will be immediately charged with the deal price.
  • If you want to get this Kindle Unlimited deal but are not a Prime member yet, you will have to start your Prime as well – and it means an extra cost if you don’t cancel Prime during your 30-day free trial.

Is there a better Kindle Unlimited deal?

Yes, there is, and you can get it even if you are not a Prime member.

Get two months of Kindle Unlimited for free

There is an ongoing deal that gives 2 months of Kindle Unlimited free of charge. It’s like getting a 60-day free trial instead of 30-day. You keep in your pocket $20.

As I said, the deal is available for both Prime members and regular Amazon customers. But the best thing is that it’s valid through March 31, 2021. You can get it any time that suits you, for instance before Christmas.

Book lovers’ guide to Prime Day 2020 deals available not only for subscribers https://ebookfriendly.com/best-prime-day-deals-gifts-book-lovers/ Tue, 29 Sep 2020 14:49:58 +0000 https://ebookfriendly.com/?p=148999 Prime Day 2020 - best Kindle book audiobook deals

Amazon’s dedicated Prime Day 2020 deals are much more attractive than a year ago. Plus, there are other deals even non-members can grab.

Prime Day 2020 is on October 13 and 14, but the event’s home page is already available with new deals featured every day. Just like in previous years, we expect thousands of exclusive offers to become available in two final days.

How many of them would be interesting for book lovers? Save time for reading books. We’ve prepared a stress-free list of deals so that you don’t have to dive (and get drowned) in the ocean of offers – with most of them not even meeting your needs.

A few days ago, Amazon announced in Prime Day 2020 highlights that there would be one Kindle model on sale, one Kindle Unlimited deal for new subscribers, and one Audible deal on the Premium Plus plan. But the new, surprisingly attractive, Kindle deals have just been revealed – including the deepest price cut on the top Kindle Oasis model!

Even better, there are hundreds of other deals on Amazon right now, and they are available also for non subscribers. Why get Prime if you can grab a good book-related deal without it?

The updated list is simplified to the bones. Only the best deals are listed, across a few categories: print books, Kindle devices and services, book and audiobook subscriptions, and gift ideas.

Jump to:

Kindle Print Audible Gifts

We have gone through endless pages of search results to find offers and deals not only for Prime subscribers but all Amazon customers. Why subscribe to Prime if you can get a similar deal on another product from the same category?

Why shop during Prime Day and not Black Friday?

The reason to start looking earlier for Christmas gifts is simple. Facing the second wave of coronavirus, shipping dates would become highly unpredictable. It may turn out that goods purchased during Black Friday or Cyber Monday would not arrive before Christmas – especially that many more users would shop in online stores.

The list is developing. Make sure to bookmark it in your web browser and come back later.

⇢ Prime Day 2020

Kindle

Save $30 on the basic Kindle

Prime Day 2020 - basic Kindle deal

Amazon announced that only one Kindle model (Paperwhite) would be available as Prime Day deal, but actually two other are also on sale.

The Prime Day price of the basic Kindle is set at $59.99, which means you save $30 – it’s even less that what we expected in our Prime Day Kindle price watch.

The 10th-generation Kindle was introduced in April 2019. The biggest improvement is a front-lighted display. Four LED lamps spread an even light across the display to help you read in the dark without a bedside lamp.

  • You save: $30; the Prime Day deal price is set at $59.99 ($89.99).
  • Status: Only for Prime members, current and new.
  • Valid: By the end of Prime Day 2020.

$50 off Kindle Paperwhite

Prime Day 2020 - Kindle Paperwhite deal

Which Kindle models with go on sale during Prime Day 2020? / Image: Amazon

Prime Day 2020 may be the biggest Amazon shopping event ever – and the worst one for Kindle lovers.

Prime Day is delayed by mid-October this year. It dramatically changes the dynamics of what and why Amazon customers buy. Combine it with delayed shipping conditions that may become unpredictable with the second wave of coronavirus.

As a result, a vast number of online shoppers may decide to buy Christmas gifts much earlier than on Black Friday, to make sure they arrive on time.

And this is why Prime Day 2020 may steal the show from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. For Amazon, the Prime Day is a way to control shipping over six or eight weeks instead of a sudden strike at the end of November.

That’s why I believe this year there will be more and better Prime Day deals than ever. Especially that customers will be willing to accept product delivery taking four or six weeks. It’s sill before Christmas, right?

Unfortunately, Prime Day will not be the best event for anyone who thinks about upgrading the Kindle. It may be the worst event ever for Kindle fans.

Highlights

  • Basic Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite may not be available during Prime Day
  • Kindle deals offered this year so far suggest that the Prime Day prices may be higher than last year
  • For the first time ever, the price of the latest-generation Kindle Oasis may be reduced for Prime Day

Jump directly to:

Kindle Paperwhite Oasis

There are two major reasons. Several variants of the basic Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite will be back on stock just after Prime Day. Amazon puts a lot more efforts into other product categories, such as Echo speakers or Fire TV.

Below, you will see Kindle price predictions for Prime Day 2020, backed by price tables from former events, and accompanied by availability details.

You can always check out the official home page of Prime Day below:

Prime Day 2020 – Kindle prices and availability

Basic Kindle

Basic Kindle Prime Day 2020 prices availability
Image: Amazon
  • Event: Prime Day 2020
  • Model: Basic Kindle, 10th generation
  • Availability: Limited
  • Expected Price: $64.99

The 10th-generation Kindle was introduced in April 2019, sot it’s not a new model. No upgrade to this model is planned by Amazon this year, so if you want to buy the most affordable Kindle e-reader, it should be this one.

The biggest improvement, compared to Kindle 9, is a front-lighted display. Four LED lamps embedded in the edge of the screen spread an even light across the surface letting you read in the dark without a bedside lamp disturbing the sleep of your significant other.

This feature alone made the price of the 2019 Kindle go up by $10, to $89.99, compared to the previous-generation model.

Basic Kindle – Prime Day price predictions

Predicting the price in this case is purely hypothetical, as there may be problems with availability – see the next section below the table to save time.

The table presents former deal prices of the basic Kindle since the first Prime Day in 2016. We also provide deal prices for Black Friday & Cyber Monday to help you get a bigger picture.

As you see, the deals are pretty stable. You could save $30, no matter the generation and list price.

If the Kindle were available for Prime Day 2020, we are not sure the deal price would be set at $59.99 just like in previous years. Why? The first reason is that Amazon is switching attention from Kindle e-readers to Alexa-enabled devices.

The second reason is that due to the coronavirus pandemic, users were buying Kindles even without price cuts, to better manage their time while being stuck at their homes. And as a result, Amazon adjusted their policy accordingly:

  • There were no Kindle deals during National Reading Month (March 2020).
  • Mother’s Day Kindle deals were lunched quietly, and they were not as deep as in previous years. The price of the basic Kindle was reduced to $64.99.
  • The deal price of Kindle 10 in Back-to-school 2020 sale was even higher – $69.99.

Prime Day 2020 price prediction: $64.99 plus extra benefits, such as ebook credits or free Kindle Unlimited (if the model is available).

Basic Kindle – Prime Day availability

When you visit Kindle 10 product page in the US Amazon store, you will see that most variants are sold out, and they will be back on stock in mid-October.

Having in mind that this year’s Prime Day is expected to run on October 13, the basic Kindle may be simply not available on time.

The black variant, both with and without ads, is going to be back on stock on October 10-11. The ad-supported white version will arrive a week later, while for the ad-free variant you will need to wait even 8 weeks – that’s almost Black Friday!

Basic Kindle – quick facts

What are the biggest benefits of Kindle 10?

  1. An adjustable front light that makes the text readable in any light conditions.
  2. Ability to play Audible audiobooks via connected headphones and speakers.
  3. Smoother design, compared to Kindle 9.
  4. A display with a bit better contrast.
  5. White color!

Which Kindle is better for me: the basic or Paperwhite?

If all you need is a convenient e-reading device with front light and long battery life, don’t overpay $40 for extra features of the Paperwhite.

Should I wait for the next-generation Kindle?

No, you should not. Kindle models are being recycled every two years. We can expect Kindle 11 next year, but having in mind that customers switch attention from e-readers to tablets and smart home appliances, we may wait even longer.

Should I choose a Kindle or tablet?

If you are looking for a device specifically to read ebooks, it should be the Kindle. Pick up Amazon Fire or iPad, if you want to do more: write mails, browse the web, or check your social networks. Also, the Kindle is not good if you want to read comic books and magazines.

Kindle Paperwhite

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 4 Prime Day 2020 price
Image: Amazon
  • Event: Prime Day 2020
  • Model: Kindle Paperwhite, 10th generation
  • Availability: Limited
  • Expected Price: $84.99

4th-generation Kindle Paperwhite is the oldest model among currently offered by Amazon. It was launched almost two years ago, with a set of features users were desperately waiting for.

The best thing about Paperwhite 4 is that it’s waterproof. The device has IPX8 water resistance badge. It means it can withstand immersion in 2 meters of fresh water for up to 60 minutes. Plus, the screen is covered by edge-to-edge glass – a solution known from top-shelf Kindle Voyage or Oasis.

Despite rumors about Kindle Paperwhite 5 featuring warm light, we don’t expect the new model to be released before Prime Day 2020.

So, if you are looking for a waterproof Kindle model with adjustable (but not warm) front light, available at a relatively reasonable price – and if you need this device before Christmas – make sure to check out Paperwhite 4 during Prime Day 2020.

Kindle Paperwhite – Prime Day price predictions

The rule is that the older the model, the deeper price cuts. Can we expect the highest price drop on the Kindle Paperwhite, especially that it’s two years old now?

Most probably, no. First, just like in case of the basic Kindle, Paperwhite 4 may not be available during Prime Day 2020 at all – read the next section for more details.

Even if the e-reader is back on stock in early October, we may not see price drops higher than a year ago. Here is why.

Last Prime Day and last Black Friday, the deal price of the Kindle Paperwhite was set at $84.99, $45 less than a regular one, for the ad-supported variant with 8 GB of internal memory.

However, Kindle deals offered by Amazon this year may suggest that seeing the same price as last year would be a great thing already.

There was no National Reading Month deal on the Kindles this year. During Mother’s Day shopping event, the Paperwhite was discounted by only $35. Back-to-school 2020 deal was even worse – the price was cut by only $30, to $99.99.

Right now, there are several deals on Amazon devices, including Fire tablets and Echo speakers, but no Kindles are on the list.

All together, don’t expect the Prime Day price to be lower than $80.

Prime Day 2020 price prediction: $84.99 plus extra benefits, such as ebook credits or free Kindle Unlimited.

Kindle Paperwhite – Prime Day availability

Availability of the Kindle Paperwhite in October is at stake. In the US Amazon store, only the 8 GB version with ads is available without significant delays – and only two color variants: Black and Twilight Blue.

Most other variants will be available in mid-October the soonest, with the popular Plum color to be restocked as late as the beginning of November.

In other words, Amazon may want to use limited Kindle Paperwhite availability during Prime Day to push sales of less popular variants.

Kindle Paperwhite – quick facts

What are the biggest benefits of Kindle Paperwhite 4?

  1. Waterproof design that makes it withstand immersion in 2 meters of fresh water for up to 60 minutes.
  2. Slim design with edge-to-edge glass front.
  3. Bigger storage options (8 or 32 GB), compared to the predecessor. A helpful feature if you are planning to listen to Audible audiobooks on the Kindle.
  4. Multiple colors to choose from, matching the new color line of Amazon Fire tablets: Plum, Sage, Twilight Blue, and Black.
  5. The largest number of compatible case covers and accessories.

Which Kindle is better for me: the basic or Paperwhite?

If all you need is a convenient e-reading device with front light and long battery life, choose the basic Kindle. If you like to read in a bathtub or on a beach and want to have peace of mind, go for Kindle Paperwhite.

Should I wait for the next-generation Kindle Paperwhite?

The next Kindle model to be launched will be the 5th-generation Paperwhite, that’s for sure. Will it happen this year? It’s hardly possible to see the new model before Prime Day. November would be a natural end of the life cycle of the current model (two full years), but due to problems created by coronavirus, Amazon may delay the launch till spring or ever summer 2021.

Kindle Oasis

Kindle Oasis Prime Day 2020 price and availability
Image: Amazon
  • Event: Prime Day 2020
  • Model: Kindle Oasis, 3rd generation
  • Availability: Full
  • Expected Price: $199.99

The most advanced Kindle e-reader to date, the 3rd-generation Oasis, was launched in summer 2019. Compared to the previous model, it offered only one – but essential – upgrade: an adjustable warm light.

The Oasis is still Amazon’s only e-reader to sport this feature. You can adjust the color temperature of the front light to be warmer. It’s helpful in the evening, as blue light (which is natural for daytime) can cause sleep problems.

Asymmetric design of Kindle Oasis 3 is what makes it a truly unique device. The design is not there to shock, however. It is intended to help owners use the e-reader with one hand. The gravity point was moved to the side, by placing an internal battery and most other components in the grip area. Thanks to that, your hand won’t hurt even if you keep the device in the same position for long hours.

Kindle Oasis – Prime Day price predictions

When it comes to Prime Day, the rule so far was that Kindle Oasis didn’t join the list of discounted Amazon devices.

In the entire history of Prime Day and Black Friday, the Oasis was offered for a reduced price only once. It happened in 2017, and it applied only to the most expensive version with cellular connectivity. The deal was symbolic – 14% off the list price.

However, with limited availability of the basic Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite, it’s quite possible to see Oasis 3 with a reduced price, especially that we have seen price drops a few times.

For Father’s Day 2019, Amazon offered Kindle Oasis for $199 instead of $249.99. The relative savings are not impressive (only 20%), but $50 was enough to grab the original leather cover.

It’s also worth mentioning that during Prime Day 2019 the older Oasis, the 2nd generation model, was discounted while the newly released model was offered at the regular price.

It may turn out that, with no two other models to offer, Amazon will decide to feature Kindle Oasis on Prime Day 2020. It would be a good idea to spread the world about the warm light which is rumored to be added to Kindle Paperwhite 5.

Prime Day 2020 price prediction: $199.99 plus free Kindle Unlimited.

Kindle Oasis – Prime Day availability

All version of the 3rd-generation Oasis are available to ship in one or two days, and there are no signs it will change in the next weeks.

Kindle Oasis – quick facts

What are the biggest benefits of Kindle Oasis 4?

  1. Adjustable warm light that lets you control the color of the front lighted screen. In the evening, you can replace blue light with a warmer tone to reduce eye strain and minimize the negative effect on sleep.
  2. Large, 7-inch touchscreen that displays crisp text and helps enjoy larger documents with fixed layout. It’s the largest currently available Kindle model.
  3. Asymmetric design that shifts the center of gravity to one side to help you keep the e-reader comfortably in one had for long hours.
  4. Audible player combined with 8 or 32 GB internal storage to enjoy Audible audiobooks to the fullest.
  5. Waterproof index IPX8 – tested to withstand immersion in 2 meters of fresh water for 60 minutes.
  6. Aluminum body combined with premium finishes: Graphite or Champagne Gold.

Is Kindle Oasis worth buying?

If you have owned Paperwhite before, and would like to upgrade your reading experience with bigger display and warm light, you can consider getting the Oasis.

Should I wait for the next-generation Kindle Oasis?

If the Oasis will be featured during this year’s Prime Day or Black Friday, this would be the best time to get the device.

Amazon Fire tablets are on sale, including the newest Fire HD 8 https://ebookfriendly.com/amazon-fire-tablet-sale-pre-prime-day-2020/ Wed, 23 Sep 2020 16:04:23 +0000 https://ebookfriendly.com/?p=148698 Amazon Fire sale early Prime Day 2020

The current deal on Fire tablets is an early sign of Prime Day 2020. You can save $20 on the new 8-inch model, and $40 on Fire HD 10.

Today, several sources have confirmed that Amazon Prime Day deals will start on October 13. And also today, Amazon launched a few deals on own devices, including Fire tablets.

So far, twelve devices are on sale, and you can find all of them on Amazon Device Deals page. Two Fire models are discounted – the 8-inch and 10-inch one. There is no deal on the most affordable Amazon Fire 7.

You can grab the newest Amazon Fire HD 8 for $69.99, which means a $20 price drop from the regular price set at $89.99. Although the model was introduced at the beginning of June, this is not the first deal we’ve seen. In late August, its price was slashed even more, to $59.99.

Another Fire on sale is the largest 10-inch model. While the regular price is $149.99, you can get it today for $109.99 and save $40.

The highest price cuts are offered on Kids Edition versions. The kid-friendly bundle based on Fire 7 is available today for $59.99, down from $99.99 so the savings are 40%. The all-new Fire HD 8 Kids Edition costs $89.99 (36% to save), while Fire HD 10 is only $149.99 instead of $199.99.

[ef-reco id=”145944″ title=”Read also” info=”Top article”]

Is it worth grabbing Fire deals right now? If you are not a Prime member (and not planning to get a membership before Prime Day), these limited time offers are the last chance to get a cheaper Fire tablet before Black Friday.

If you are a Prime member, you should expect even deeper price cuts. The price of the newest Fire HD 8 should go below $50 this Prime Day and Black Friday.

What about Kindle deals? Many interesting things can happen in the next two weeks. If Kindle Paperwhite 5 is going to be introduced before Prime Day, we hope to see huge price cuts on the earlier-generation model. The new model will be most probably sold at a list price.

It’s worth mentioning that Prime Day 2020 front page is already open and waiting for deals.
