Amazon Fire HD 10 (2019 release) – full tech specs

Amazon Fire HD 10 2019 release full tech specs

The refreshed entertainment tablet from Amazon comes with 512 microSD card support, USB-C port, 2 MP front camera, and picture-in-picture capability.

The newest Amazon Fire HD 10 (2019) tablet costs the same as its 2017 predecessor – $149.99 for the entry-level version with special offers; $205 for the top version (64 GB on board, no ads).

The 2019 10.1-inch Fire HD 10 offers a few improvements that make it one of the most interesting budget tablets you can get right now.

Among the new features, you will find USB-C connector (the same as in iPad Pro tablets), memory expandable by 512 GB microSD cards, and a better front camera.

Unfortunately, the display has not been upgraded. The 10.1-inch widescreen Full HD display supports 1080p Full HD video playback. It’s fully laminated and has an advanced polarizing filter. With a resolution of 1920 × 1200 px and 224 ppi pixel density, the display offers “vivid colors, increased brightness, and wide viewing angle.”

The new tablet is available in a new range of colors, similar to Fire 7 2019. Besides Black, you can find Plum and Twilight Blue. Plus, there is a new insanely beautiful color variant, White, which goes extremely well with any of the new original covers, including Sage, and Sandstone White.

Keep on reading. We will take a quick look at the improvements right now.

Amazon Fire HD 10 (2019) – what’s new

1. Support for 512 GB microSD cards

If you are determined to get a lot of stuff for offline use, you are most probably looking for tablets that offer the largest possible internal memory.

The 2019 Fire HD 10 offers the same storage options as the previous model (32 or 64 GB) but you can extend the memory via microSD cards.

And the newest model supports now the cards that are up to 512 GB – the same as in the 2019 Fire 7 and twice as much as in the predecessor.

2. USB-C connector

Fire HD 10 is the first Amazon tablet that comes with USB-C port instead of micro-USB connector.

Thanks to that the device can be fully recharged in 4 hours, using 9W power adapter included in the box. In the 2017, you had to plug the tablet for at least 5 hours to recharge it to 100%.

3. Faster 2 GHz processor

Compared to quad-core 1.8 GHz processor used in the 2017 model, the newest 10-inch Fire runs on octa-core 2.0 GHz and 2 GB RAM, making it faster than any other Fire tablet. Especially if you want to play many games and watch many videos.

4. Better 2 MP front camera

A front VGA camera in the 2017 model was bad. It was so bad Amazon didn’t even mention its resolution.

The new model comes with the same 2 MP camera for both front and back which is capable of recording 720p HD videos.

Finally, you will be able to video chat with your family members, and actually see their faces.

5. Picture-in-picture capability

Another new feature is picture-in-picture capability. The new feature allows you to see two things at the same time: one in the full view, and the other one in an inset window.

Thanks to picture-in-picture feature, you will be able to browse the web while video chatting with your kids, or watch Prime video while checking Facebook comments under your status update.

6. New colors and case covers

The newest 10-inch Fire tablet is dressed in a 2019 color outfit. A range of desaturated colors includes Plum, Twilight Blue, and White. It is in line with colors of Amazon Fire 7 and Kindle Oasis that were released earlier this year.

As usual, the new Amazon case covers are offered in the matching colors. Although old cases will fit the 2019 model – as both generations have the same dimensions and locations of ports and buttons – you may have a problem with a color compatibility.

  1. […] Amazon Fire HD 10 is not the newest tablet model out there, and the case can be a great way to give it the second life. This time, instead of relying on official cases, try something refreshing. […]
