The benefits of libraries on four amazing flowcharts

Flowcharts with benefits of libraries

The visuals show how libraries can help patrons not only learn much-needed skills but also live happier lives and be creative in trying new things.

Day after day, we are browsing the web for new resources that help spread the love for books and libraries.

I have to admit we missed these brilliant visuals. They were designed and published back in 2018 as an outcome of projects running within the UK’s innovation fund Libraries: Opportunities for Everyone (LOFE).

The fund enabled participating libraries to try new, innovative activities without fear of failure. In total, 30 projects were funded, and they were running in 331 locations across England, operated by 46 library services.

The flowcharts show what the library services had learned from the projects. The greatest thing is that they are specific case studies showing the benefits of using a library service in general.

Backed by facts, stats, and opinions from project participants, they are a fantastic source of inspiration. You can read the full evaluation of the LOFE project here.

The visuals are shown below. You can download the high-resolution images from a DCMS Libraries Team Flickr album. When sharing the flowcharts, make sure to link back to either this Flickr album or the LOFE evaluation article on DCMS Libraries blog.
